Curriculum Overview
The curriculum in English is designed to build on learning from Key Stage 2 (KS2) and successfully prepare students for academic success at the end of Key Stage 4 (KS4).
Schemes of work across Key Stage 3 (KS3) are used to bridge the gap between KS2 and KS4 providing learners with the opportunity to gain new knowledge and develop skills in both reading and writing.
Each scheme of work builds on knowledge learnt from the previous and all assessed work is marked using agreed standards which become increasingly more challenging each year.
Furthermore, the curriculum is challenging and meets the needs of the National Curriculum. All schemes of work provide vital opportunities for learners to develop their cultural capital through exploring key ideas, British Values as well as SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development) resources.
