Pupil Premium
In April 2011, the Government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant giving schools extra funding to help close the attainment gaps for disadvantaged learners and to assist with the pastoral needs of children.
We would like to remind parents/carers, that if you are in receipt of low family income your child may be eligible to enter the school's Pupil Premium Register and receive vital additional funding to help support their development needs and a wide range of additional benefits.
The purpose of this extra money is to ensure that children from low income families are not at a financial disadvantage during their education as a result of home circumstances. Some of the financial benefits of being a Pupil Premium learner include: school uniform subsidy, day and residential visit subsidies and free educational resources including books, study guides and additional learning resources. In addition, it may be appropriate for a learner to have access to extra 1:1 tuition or as part of small focus group work.
Parents of learners registered for Pupil Premium Funding also receive a £125 educational voucher to specifically use to spend on/contribute to some of these additional resources for their child. In addition, learners in receipt of Pupil Premium are eligible to take our delicious and healthy Free School Meals which can save on lunch bills and the effort and expense of making packed lunches every day.
Your child may be able to receive Pupil Premium Funding if your joint household income is no more than £16,190 or you are in receipt of any of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
